Android Studio uses Intel’s Hardware Accelerated Execution Manager (HAXM), a hardware-assisted virtualization engine to speed up Android development.

If you’re like me, you were likely surprised to get this message when you attempted to install HAXM on your Macbook running 10.13 High Sierra:

HAXM silent installation only supports macOS from 10.8 to 10.12 !

Hold back those tears folks, because we have a fix:

$ echo "HVF = on" >> ~/.android/advancedFeatures.ini

This should work. If not, follow the official ticket on this issue here. Because we all need more tickets in our lives.
